Community Engagement
Project DC is a community-centered planning process shaped by the voices, experiences, and ideas of the people who live, work, and care about Cattleman Square.
From March through October 2026, we will host multiple opportunities for engagement — including public workshops, pop-ups, working group sessions, partner meetings, and online input. This is not a one-time meeting. It is an ongoing conversation.
The Project DC Community Vision process will inform and co-create the Master Plan for Cattleman Square. Together, we will identify shared priorities, explore possibilities, and guide future housing, public space, and neighborhood investment rooted in equity and cultural identity.
We are committed to meaningful engagement that is accessible, transparent, and responsive to community input.
Engagement Groups
Project DC Partners
Project DC is guided by several engagement groups that bring together different perspectives, expertise, and community voices throughout the planning process.
Each group plays a distinct role and participates in different types of conversations. Organizing engagement this way allows us to have both broad community input and more focused discussions that explore specific issues in greater depth. Some groups help us think through site-specific opportunities, technical challenges, or implementation strategies, while others help ensure the project reflects lived experiences, community priorities, and neighborhood values.
Project DC Partners are organizations and institutions that have signed Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with the San Antonio Housing Trust and have a direct role in the future of land or projects within the district. These partners help shape site-specific ideas and commitments by sharing information about their properties, coordinating potential investment timelines, and working with the project team to test how district-wide strategies could be implemented.
The Working Group includes subject matter experts, community leaders, service providers, and representatives from neighborhood organizations and local institutions. This group provides insight, expertise, and lived experience to inform the planning process, helping ensure that ideas and strategies reflect community priorities, cultural context, and real-world feasibility.
Members include: City of San Antonio, Neighborhood Associations, County, Business Owners, Community Based Organizations, Economic Development Organizations, Historic Preservation and Historians.
Community Ambassadors are a group of local community members who help connect the project team with residents and neighborhood networks across the Westside. Ambassadors extend outreach and build trust by sharing information about Project DC, hosting small conversations, supporting community events and workshops, and helping gather feedback from residents who might not otherwise participate.
The Community-at-Large includes residents, workers, business owners, and community members from San Antonio, especially those connected to the Westside and the Cattleman Square area. Through surveys, workshops, events, and conversations, community members share their experiences, priorities, and ideas to help ensure the plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the people most impacted by the district’s future.
